Instructions for Authors
The Journal of Biomedical Insights (JBI) is a peer-reviewed, Quarterly (4 issues/year), open-access publication devoted to disseminating high-quality research across health sciences, including clinical medicine, pharmacy, public health, biomedical sciences, and allied health fields. Manuscripts submitted must be original, unpublished, and not simultaneously under consideration by other journals.
Authors are advised to carefully adhere to the guidelines below before submitting their work.
- Types of Manuscripts
JBI accepts submissions in the following categories:
- Original Research Articles
- Review Articles
- Short Communications
- Case Reports (with strong scientific rationale)
- Letters to the Editor
- Editorials (by invitation only)
- General Formatting
- Manuscripts must be written in English, using British spelling conventions.
- Use 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, with 1-inch margins.
- Submit files in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
- Number pages consecutively starting from the title page.
- Manuscript Organization
Submissions should be structured as follows:
A. Title Page
- Concise and descriptive manuscript title
- Full names and institutional affiliations of all authors
- ORCID iDs are recommended
B. Abstract
- Maximum length: 350 words
- For original research: structured format (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion)
- For other article types: unstructured abstract allowed
C. Main Body
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods
- Results
- Discussion
D. Acknowledgements
- Include sources of funding and any contributor acknowledgements
E. Conflicts of Interest
- Disclose all financial or non-financial competing interests
F. Ethical Approval
- For studies involving humans or animals, provide details of ethical clearance, including the approving body and approval number
- JBI follows ICMJE and COPE publication ethics guidelines
- Authorship Requirements
Authors must meet the criteria set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which include:
- Significant contributions to the study design, data acquisition, or analysis
- Drafting or critically revising the manuscript
- Final approval of the version to be published
- Accountability for all aspects of the work
- Reference Format (Vancouver Style)
- Cite references in-text as numerals within square brackets [ ] in order of appearance.
- Examples: “Previous studies confirmed this finding [1].” or multiple citations [1,2], [3–5].
- Reference list should be numbered accordingly and formatted as follows:

- Tables and Figures
- Number tables and figures consecutively with descriptive titles.
- Submit each on a separate page at the end of the manuscript.
- Indicate approximate placement in the text (e.g., “Insert Table 1 here”).
- Figures should be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
- Abbreviations and Units
- Define all abbreviations on first use in the abstract and main text.
- Use the International System of Units (SI) consistently.
- Plagiarism Policy
- All manuscripts will be checked using plagiarism detection software.
- Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 15% (excluding references and methods) will be rejected.
- JBI strictly adheres to COPE guidelines in handling cases of plagiarism and research misconduct.
- Copyright and Open Access
- Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing free access, sharing, and reuse with appropriate citation.
- Submission and Peer Review
- Submit manuscripts via [submission portal].
- All submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer review process.
- Average time to first decision is approximately 3–4 weeks.
- Acceptance decisions are based on originality, scientific quality, clarity, and ethical compliance.
